When our founder lost his home in the Eaton Fire, he experienced firsthand how overwhelming and predatory recovery can be.
That experience led him to co-found PostFire, one of California’s leading wildfire recovery nonprofits, helping thousands of survivors navigate the road home with expert guidance, for free.
Theia was designed to expand that support, closing budget gaps, and offering impactful protections to folks in a vulnerable moment.
We have an ethos we don’t stray from.
1. Survivor First
Everything we do starts with the same question:
“Is it good for survivors?”
If the answer is no, it’s not for us.
2. never charge A survivor
Our services are free for those affected.
Your ability to pay for good help shouldn’t be what keeps you from rebuilding your life, so we give everyone access to excellent assistance, and prices typically reserved for big companies.
3. Protect, Always
Recovery is hard enough without being scammed or sent in the wrong direction.
We only work with professionals, vetted builders, and disaster experts so you never spin your wheels or get taken advantage of.
4. stick around
We believe that support shouldn’t disappear when donors do.
After many years in nonprofit work, we built a new model where survivors are never charged, the helpers earn a living wage, and we don’t have to shut down when the headlines move on.
5. trust
Transparency & trust are core principles at Theia - we earn a small fee from the companies we work with, which keeps services free for the people who need them.
That means you have more to rebuild with, vendors make enough to stay engaged, and we can still be here to help with future disasters.
